Girls with Bright Futures by Tracy Dobmeier and Wendy Katzman Book Review

Reasons for Reading This Book: As an active member of The Readheads book club I read  Girls with Bright Futures by Tracy Dobmeier and Wendy Katzman  for the month of July 2022. I was excited to read this book as I followed and watched during the college admissions scandal. I was intrigued to see if there were any similarities.  Content of the Book:  Three mothers and three daughter all vying for the one open spot at Standard. Its that time of the year, college admissions season for Seattle's Elliott Bay Academy. Due to the acceptance of student athletes Standard is only allotting one spot to an EBA student. Eco-Friendly and Sustainable Tips While in AmeriCorps NCCC FEMA Corps Program

In July of 2021 I entered the AmeriCorps NCCC FEMA Corps program. Going into this program I knew I was going to experience a lot of firsts and lots of challenges. One of the main challenges I knew I would face was being away from my controlled sustainable living environment that I had created for myself. Knowing this was going to happen there were things I did to prepare. Throughout the 12 month program I complied a number of tips, tricks, and products to help those in the program live as eco-friendly and sustainable as possible under the unique and ever-changing conditions. How To Prepare: Some of the products that I brought me with and used throughout the duration of the program were bamboo toothbrushes, laundry strips, cloth napkins, handkerchiefs, reusable silverware, food containers, and much more. Below is a link to the products I brought with me. Bamboo Toothbrushes Bamboo Silverware Tru Earth Laundry Strips Contigo Water Battle Cloth napkins- years ago my mom used scrap fabric

I have been a member of this book club since the beginning and loving reading the chosen book each month. For June 2022 the chosen book was Run, Rose, Run by James Patterson and Dolly Parton . I was excited to read this book for two reasons; one I have never read a James Patterson book but have always wanted to, and two I was intrigued by the fact that Dolly wrote an accompanying album to the book. Content of the Book: A 'little', driven, and stubborn small-town girl is trying to make it as a singer-song writer in Nashville. A retired world famous country singer brings her under her wing and wants to do all that she can to make her the newest superstar. Does she have what it takes to make it as a country superstar? Will her past catch up to her? This book has everything from homelessness to the glamorous life of a superstar. Read to find out who Rose is and why she is on the
