Verity by Colleen Hoover Book Review

Reasons For Reading This Book: For the Readheads book club I read and reviewed Layla by Colleen Hoover. I really enjoyed that book and knew I might enjoy another one of her well loved books. One of my co-workers who is also a big reader, wanted to gift me a book for my birthday. At the time I was in a bit of a book slump and did not really know what to choose. After seeing Verity all over social media I said to myself why not give it a chance and see if it lives up to the hype. I told my co-worker the title and it was on my desk the next day. Since I had read a Colleen Hoover book before I did have some expectations but tried to not set them too high. As someone who has not read any of Colleen Hoover's pure romance novels my expectations for a dark and twisted plot came from reading Layla.  Content of the Book: Just as she needed it, Lowen, a struggling writer in financial trouble receives an offer to finish a famous book series after the author is tragically left unable to do so....

Maybe In Another Life by Taylor Jenkins Reid Book Review

Reasons for reading this book I am not going to lie, I thought I purchased Malibu Rising on iBooks not Maybe In Another Life . Once I realized which book I had actually downloaded I had mixed expectations going into it. I say that because I consider The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid to be my current favorite book, but I also hated Daisy Jones and the Six  which is also by Taylor Jenkins Reid. In short I was hopeful that I would like the book, but also knew there was a possibility I would not like it. I should also mention I read and reviewed this book in July of 2021.  Content of this book By the age of 29, Hannah Martin has yet to find 'home'. She has lived in six cities and jumped from meaningless job to meaningless job. She finally decides to return to Los Angeles and move in with her best friend Gabby. While out at a bar on her first night back in the city Hannah runs into her high school boyfriend Ethan. She has the choice to stay out with Ethan or...

Girl With No Job by Claudia Oshry Book Review

Reason for reading this book My main reason for reading this book is that I am a ReadHead which is a member of  The ReadHeads  podcast bookclub. Not only is Claudia Oshry, the author of this book, the sister of two of the hosts of the podcast, she also runs the network that produces the podcast, and she was a guest on the podcast. I knew the club would read and review the book so I had to read it of course. The crazy thing about how I became a ReadHead is that my best friend is a Toaster, follower of The Morning Toast Podcast  where Claudia is a host, and she is the one who introduced me to The ReadHeads. She bought and read the book and then was gracious enough to loan it to me to read. I should mention that I listened to The ReadHeads podcast with Claudia before I read Girl With No Job by Claudia Oshry . My mindset going into reading this book was to be entertained, learn for about life as a social media influencer, and to understand how and why she was 'canceled...

Layla by Colleen Hoover Book Review

My Reasons For Reading This Book As I have mentioned in past book reviews, I follow  The Readheads Book Club . This is a podcast book club where a different book is chosen each month. At the time of writing this we are reading book 14 of the year. The chosen book was Layla by Colleen Hoover . Like most of the hosts of the book club I had not read any of Colleen Hoover's books. With this being the first time I am reading one of her books, I set no expectations and went into it with an open mind. Before I started reading the book I only knew the title and a brief description that was given in the podcast.  Content of the Book This book follows the intriguing story of Leeds and Layla's life after their meeting at her sister's wedding. Layla and Leeds' lives are forever changed after an unexpected attack. The attack leaves Layla with mental and emotions scarring, she is not the same woman Leeds fell in love with months before. In an effort to mend their relationship, Leeds ...

Little Fires Everywhere Book Review

My Reasons For Reading This Book There are three main reasons for why I chose to read  Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng . The first one is that I had already finished the book for the Podcast book club that I follow ( The Readheads Book Club ) and I had more than a week before the next episode came out. So in short I was in need of a book to fill time. The second reason is that everywhere I looked people were talking about this book and were recommending it. I also saw that it had tons of reviews on iBooks and Amazon and to me that is an indicator that lots of people have read it and enjoyed it. The third and final reason is that I pay for Hulu and do not use it very often so as an effort to use it more, I thought that by the time I finished reading the book the full series would be on Hulu and then I could watch it right after.  Content of Little Fires Everywhere  This book takes place in the 1990s and follows the lives of two families navigating their ne...
