The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas Book Review

Reasons For Reading This Book: As I mentioned in my reviews of Homegoing and Such a Fun Age, I am reading books on different topics this year. One of the topics I chose is race and racism. The Hate U Give by Angie Thoma s has been on my want to read list since the movie came out in 2018. Every time I am looking for a new book I always check my library to see if the ebook is available. In April I was finally able to get my hands on the ebook. I first became interested in this book when I saw a trailer for the movie. Since watching the trailer and reading amazing reviews of the book I knew I wanted to read the book not only so I would understand the movie, but so I could finally say I had read this highly recommended book. Content of the Book: Starr Carter is a sixteen-year old lover of basketball. As a sixteen year old she struggles with her identity as she is living in two worlds: the poor neighborhood where she lives and the wealthy suburban prep school she attends with her siblings....

American Royals ll: Majesty by Kathrine McGree Book Review

Reason For Reading This Book: I am going to be honest and say that I read this book as a filler in between book club books/books that I really wanted to read. Because it was so hard to get a hold of a copy of Ghosts of Gothem to read for The Readheads Book club and I was not excited about reading that book, so I chose not to, I needed something to read until the next book club book was announced. I went through my book lists and tried to find books that I would get as an ebook from the library as I do not live near my library. None of the books that I really wanted to read were available from the library besides Majesty by Kathrine McGree . This book has been on my want to read list since it came out. I read the first one shortly before the second one was published. I had never picked it to read because I read the reviews and everyone either said it was a waste of time or simply mediocre. I was desperate so I pulled the trigger and downloaded the ebook from the library. I was pre...

American Royals Book Review

My Reasons For Reading This Book  It feels like I haven't reviewed a book in a long time, but really I have just read more books this year that ever before. Something I have not talked about yet on the blog is that I am a part of The Readheads Book Club , which is a podcast book club. I joined the book club because one of the hosts also has a Bachelor podcast that I listen to during the airing of the show. I was so excited to join a book club because I always struggle to find books and people to talk to about the books I read. A different host chooses a book each time giving you a variety of different genres and book topics. As of the time I am writing this, the book club is on book 9 of the year. I have read all but book one and book eight. I chose not to read the eighth book because I read it in high school and did not want to read it again. Now where am I going with this if the book I am reviewing today is not one of the books read for the book club, well that is because Margo o...

September Book Review 2019: Alex and Eliza: Love and War

Reasons For  Reading  This Book As I mentioned in my review of the first book in this trilogy series, I am a massive fan of the Broadway musical Hamilton. I not only have the entire soundtrack memorized, but I have also had the  opportunity  to attend the show in October of 2018. The reason why I am reading Love & War  and all three books one after the other is because I will be attending the show once again in  September  of 2019 and wanted to not only finish the series before I went, but also wanted to celebrate my  excitement  by thinking of it everyday while I read. Why I chose to read these  specific   Hamilton  novels is  because  I have always wanted to  learn  more about Eliza  Schuyler. The love story of Alex and Eliza  intrigues me and I thought why not read a trilogy series on that topic. If you are interested in how I came to discover this series check out this ...

August Book Review 2019: Alex and Eliza: A Love Story

"There's a million things I haven't done, just you wait." - Alexander Hamilton  Reasons For Reading This Book Some of you may know that I am a huge fan of the Broadway musical Hamilton. I listen to the soundtrack at least every other day and had the amazing opportunity to attend the Broadway musical in October of 2018. Spoiler, I am going again in September of 2109. As I have mentioned before my mother is a big reader and is always on the lookout for books that I might want to read when she is at the library. While at one of her book clubs she came across Alex and Eliza: A Love Story and knew instantly that she had to see if I was interested in reading it. Honestly she didn't even have to really ask to know that I would love reading this book. Another reason she knew I would love this book is because Eliza Schuyler is my favorite "character" from the musical. In conclusion I chose to read this book because of my love for Hamilton the musical and ...
