Maybe In Another Life by Taylor Jenkins Reid Book Review

Reasons for reading this book I am not going to lie, I thought I purchased Malibu Rising on iBooks not Maybe In Another Life . Once I realized which book I had actually downloaded I had mixed expectations going into it. I say that because I consider The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid to be my current favorite book, but I also hated Daisy Jones and the Six  which is also by Taylor Jenkins Reid. In short I was hopeful that I would like the book, but also knew there was a possibility I would not like it. I should also mention I read and reviewed this book in July of 2021.  Content of this book By the age of 29, Hannah Martin has yet to find 'home'. She has lived in six cities and jumped from meaningless job to meaningless job. She finally decides to return to Los Angeles and move in with her best friend Gabby. While out at a bar on her first night back in the city Hannah runs into her high school boyfriend Ethan. She has the choice to stay out with Ethan or...

Educated by Tara Westover Book Review

Reasons for reading this book Educated by Tara Westover has been on my want to read book list for over a year now and I just never read it because it was long and cost more money then I wanted to spend. Lucky for me I had just finished Daisy Jones & The Six when my mom came home with Educated as it was her book club book for July. For reference I read this book in the last week of June but am just now getting around to posting it as I have created so much other content prior to reading it. So simply I read this book out of convenience and to finally check it off my want to read list. Content of the book Educated is Tara Westover's memoir. It details her life as the youngest child of a mother who believed she could heal any injury or illness with tinctures and salve while her father was against the medical establishment and the government. Tara and her siblings were 'homeschooled' as their parents did not believe in the public school system. The family lived in an iso...

The Simple Wild by K.A. Tucker Book Review

Reasons for Reading This Book I read The Simple Wild by K.A. Tucker because I am a member of  The ReadHeads  podcast book club and it was the book of the month for December 2021. I love a Sitch's choice!! Before reading the book I did look at some of the review on iBooks. The one that stuck out to me and I kept thinking about throughout the whole book was that one reader said 'she hated the main character, felt no sympathy for her, found her to not be relatable at all, and could not believe that she was 26 and never lived on her own or bought her own groceries'. Even though I read this review I did not let it influence my perspective of the character and was open to form my own opinion of Calla. I was excited to read about Alaska as I have never been there and love reading about live in places that are so different from where I live.   Themes  Life is full of new experiences and new people, you just have to be open to experiencing and meeting them. Take a chanc...

Chicken Sausage Dinner Ideas

Do you have one of those foods that you like so much you could eat it everyday? Well, for my mom that is chicken sausage. She is the one who introduced me to chicken sausage because when I would stay at her house that is what we would eat for dinner. Since I started eating chicken sausage I have come up with a couple of different ways to incorporate it into different meals.  I like chicken sausage because it is an easy to prepare protein that can be paired with all types of food depending on the flavor of chicken sausage that you get. My mom personally likes spicy chicken sausage whereas I usually go for plain or apple.  Grilled Chicken Sausage One way I love to enjoy a chicken sausage is grilled on a charcoal or outside grill. I like to get a good char so its crispy on the outside. I then wrap it in leafy lettuce. I like to either dip it in ketchup or BBQ sauce. I serve it along with a dill pickle, steamed broccoli, steamed or grilled corn, or oven roasted carrot fries. This ...

2022 Bullet Journal Set Up

I might be a little late to posting this, but work and the holidays were crazy so I am just now getting around to it. In this blog post I am sharing the 9 bullet journal spreads I set up for the 2022 year. Most of these spreads I have more in depth blog posts about, I will link them if so. For this year I went with a neutral color scheme for my main yearly spreads. In the past I have done black and white and ended up really liking the way the bullet journal looked in the end. I do plan to have colorful weekly spreads. I have ordered this blog post in the order these spreads are in my bullet journal. This is also the order in which I fill them out each day. I plan digitally, using an iPad and the application  GoodNotes  and  Adonit Dash 3 Stylus  from Amazon. These spreads were made on GoodNotes5, but are easily exported to be used on GoodNotes4. If you are curious to why I plan digitally check out my blog post  Switching to a Digital Planner-Paperless Planning ....

The Midnight Library by Matt Haig

Reasons for Reading This Book I read The Midnight Library by Matt Haig for two reasons. The first is that I am a member of  The ReadHeads  podcast book club and it was the book of the month for November 2021. The second reason is that in between reading books for the book club I am also working my way through my best friends book list. This book just happened to also be on her list. I have seen this title floating around on social media and was excited to read it and see if it lived up to the high ratings that it was given.  Content of the Book Beyond the edge of the universe is a library that contains books for each life that you could live. For every action or decision you make there is a different possible life that follows. We all wonder how our lives could be different, but what if we had the chance to step into those different lives. Nora Seed finds herself in her Midnight Library where is faced with the decision of choosing if one of her other lives is better than...

Ground Turkey Dinners

A protein source that I think is underrated is ground turkey. I grew up eating ground beef and it never agreed with my stomach and I wasn't a fan of the strong flavor. I also did not like the texture of ground meat for a number of years and refused to eat it. Within the last 2-3 years I have started eating ground turkey because it has a milder taste than ground beef. Since doing so I have developed a number of different recipes that I make with ground turkey. This post includes a variety of different ground turkey dinners that are sure to impress. All the meals are simple to make and require minimal ingredients.  All meals are milk free, gluten free, and lower in carbs/starches.  Eggroll in a Bowl Eggroll in a bowl is the perfect dinner because it combines vegetables and protein into one easy dish. The three main ingredients for eggroll in a bowl are green cabbage, ground turkey, and zucchini. For the sauce and seasonings I use gluten free soy sauce or tamari, salt, black pepp...
